ASRock X570 Taichi 

After extracting the BIOS setup form from the ROM file, a couple of interesting things i noticed. The first relates to DRAM profiles, if your wanting to know what Memory modules you should buy that are a good fit for the new AMD Ryzen 3000 series CPU's the ASRock Bios revels 3 that are a good match.

  • G.SKILL Trident Z Royal Series 16GB (2x8GB) F4-3600C16D-16GTRG(S) @ 4200MHz
  • CORSAIR Dominator Platinum RGB 16GB (2x8GB) CMT16GX4M2K3600C16 @4200Mhz
  • GeIL SUPER LUCE RGB SYNC 16GB (2x8GB) GLS416GB3600C16ADC @ 4200MHz

The above 3 DRAM kits have pre configured profiles to run at 4200Mhz present in the BIOS

The other reason i was looking in the BIOS was around the South Bridge fan settings. If your not using PCIe 4 devices in the two M.2 slots via the X570 SB, (only use the M.2 directly from the CPU) the heat generated by the X570 may be manageable. The manufacture has to allow for the worst case scenario where the south bridge was hosting 2 x PCIe 4.0 x 4 storage devices causing a lot of heat. Looking at the fan settings available on the X570 Taichi you can chose from 4 pre sets and a customized option.

SB_FAN1 Setting

  • Customize
  • Silent Mode
  • Standard Mode
  • Performance Mode
  • Full Speed

Looking further the customized option you can set 4 temperature/fan speed and a critical temperature value.

Even at the lowest temperature setting of 1 the fan is set by default to 65%. Would be nice if you can set it to 0% as long as the South Bridge X570 stays under 50C. this is of course assuming that the above values translate into degrees C and fan speed percentage.

I am looking at this board to replace my aging Linux server and would like it to run as quite as possible due to where it is located.

Not listed in the board specifications but present in the BIOS setup forms is the option to set an IR Port.
